This has been kicking around for some time now, partly because I wasn't sure what to say about it. And I still don't really. There is elements of Iron Maiden there at points, but it's an altogether more dramatic affair. Perhaps if you could imagine Anathema done Maiden-style dripping with Gorgonzola you might come somewhere close. Hell, I dunno. It's fairly well done, and the production is pretty good too. The vocalist has a fantastic range and a great voice which is perfectly suited to the music. Overall the songs are OK, and even they drag on a bit they don't get too dull. Verdict: Old-fashioned sounding euro-metal. |

The first track on this demo sounds like a comedy version of Cradle Of Filth's Midian, with the Helloween guy on vocals. It really only could ever be made by a European band, and in this case thei hail from Finland. I have to give them a lot of credit, because this is one of the best produced demos I've ever heard. It has massive keyboard-laden soundscapes backed by strings, choirs, and guitars alike. It is definitely a musical achievement. It truly is a work of extreme cheese. The other three tracks have hymn-like vocal melodies, just like you would sing on church. While this isn't the kind of thing I personally would pay money for, it is very well executed. Production, instrumentation, and songwriting are all of a high standard. Verdict: You know yourself if this is your thing. If so, buy it. |
